ABOUT American Vampires

The Grand Junction-produced film “American Vampires” was supposed to start at 7 p.m. at its premiere on Friday, Aug. 14, but the start time had to be pushed back about half an hour — because the line to get in was still wrapped around the outside of the Avalon Theatre.

Once the film began, a sold-out Avalon crowd of about 1,000 people watched the newest horror-comedy by local filmmaker Hank Braxtan.

On August 14, Grand Junction area moviegoers have a unique opportunity to experience a brand new film on the big screen before anyone else, and it was made right here in our own backyard.

KKCO sat down with the local creators and crew behind this homegrown project to discuss its local filming locations, and find out where you can secure your tickets.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – A locally made film, “American Vampires,” is set to screen Aug. 14 at the Avalon Theatre, featuring local talent both in front of and behind the camera.

Production on the film began in August of last year, with more than 50 Grand Junction residents involved in the project.

The latest film shot in Grand Junction is set to premier in mid-August.
